호주총각

Hoju (호주) is Korean for Australia. Hoju chonggak — the phrase on his shirt — is roughly “Australian bachelor”. He had it printed himself. He thinks it is charming.

Cooper arrived in Daegu on a one-year teaching visa, and by most accounts the year is technically still going. He has a mullet he refuses to explain, a phrasebook he has never opened past page four, and an unshakeable belief that he is, on balance, well liked.

The two games

Danger in Daegu is the comedy. You chase rizz down a neon side street, the Korean National Police chase you, and everyone involved is having a worse time than Cooper appears to realise.

Five Nights at Cooper’s is not the comedy. Same man, same shirt, seen from inside his house at 3am through seven cameras that only ever show you where he was. If the first game is the joke, this one is the part of the joke that stops being funny.

The shirt

Black tee, kangaroo, SYDNEY in block capitals, and 호주총각 across the chest in a font he picked himself. He owns four. He rotates them.
